Need a reg number from a frame number

I'm sure someone on here did this for me before with a trade HPI account. Got a XS 650 frame and engine, but no V5 or number plate. Hoping to put it back on the road one day but with no V5 it's a bit of a risk- can anyone help?

I don't know about an HPi sorry, Baz, but have you tried a Yamaha owners club? They are usually helpful at dating bikes from frame numbers etc so might be able to help with a plate, too. Failing that the only other option I can see is to buy a frame and V5, can't be that expensive?

Is the frame as the same as the chassis number? You can look up a reg via the chassis no.
