Is it not just Volvo covering their are and passing the buck to the owner if the car? I wonder if at some point Volvo were sued for an airbag not going off....

If I was a lawyer (I'm not) then my professional advice would, reluctantly, be to replace airbags as the manufacturer recommends. But I would point out that I personally believe the risk is small enough to be negligible.

I would just not crash.

Airbags? WTF are those?

Isnt that what the cartilage on the end of your nose for - to absorb collisions with inanimate objects?

Having seen the build quality and the thought and design put into Volvos I believe they are the least likely cars of all to have Airbag malfunctions after 10 or 15 years.

Its all just arse covering isn't it?

Having seen the build quality in 10-15 year old Volvos I'll stick with the 20-30 year old ones thanks.

I'll be sticking with cars with the bare minimum of "I can safely drive like a wanker" adjustment technology. I don't even like the ABS on my BX, felt like a right prat when I forgot about the delay on it and ended up a couple of feet over a give way line when it snowed the first winter I had it, despite crawling down the hill to the junction and applying left foot to centre pedal in (what would have been for non-assisted brakes) plenty of time
