Mat.T Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Nice to meet you too. We pulled in for some lunch on the way back at Dunwich. When the car didnt restart I presumed my mate had flooded it, but plugs out this wasn't the case. Just no spark! bit of tinkered with the sparkling thing it fired up nicely! Later on it played up again so it just got disconnected. Stalham Saab Owners Club were very pleasant and quite excited to see another 900! They were also quite interested in the stanza as it turned out they also own a Honda Aerodeck. Made good tea too! wuvvum 1
mat_the_cat Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 If you're interested, I have one of those very same Sparkrite modules to replace it? From what I remember, there's a metal switch on one end which you can flick to change back to points ignition.
Mat.T Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Hi thanks for the offer, I think the car is going to stay points and condensor and the sparkright thing can stay in the bin! I'm sure a later sunny/bluebird electronic igition dizzy might fit which might be something to look in to at a later date. Which would probably be the best solution for reliability.
mat_the_cat Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Fair enough, I'm not a fan of technology for the sake of it but I think electronic ignition is a worthwhile upgrade on an old engine (even fitted it to my ancient mower last year!) But one that still retains the weakest link i.e. points seems pretty…erm...pointless to me!
Pete-M Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Just spotted this thread. What a truly dismal thing. Well done. 10 shite mega points.
AnthonyG Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Also just spotted this story - I reckon you did a pretty good job of sorting out that front end. I am also very happy to hear that the Rover of Doom lives on.
