jonny69 Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I don't think we've had a rolling thread with useful deals for things like cheap oil, antifreeze, tools etc? We should share when see a good deal in Halfords, motorfactors, ebay sellers, Lidl/Aldi and the like. I'll kick off with Halfords currently have Tyre Weld on buy-one-get-one-free. Sad that I had to find out the hard way, but nice to have a spare in the boot for next time.
daveb47 Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Cheap trolleyjack at aldi, https://www.aldi.co.uk/en/specialbuys/thursday-6th-february/product-detail/ps/p/hydraulic-trolley-jack/?pk_campaign=uk_product_newsletter&pk_kwd=2014-02-03_14-50 DeeJay and CortinaDave 2
explosive-cabbage Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Good idea. Useful if we could have a quick review with these links too, some of this stuff can be shit quality. I won some blue floral carpet out of a carpeter's wheelie bin this morning, perfect for a change of scenery underfoot in the chodwagon.
wackywacerwill Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 I bought some screen wash from poundland the other day and now my car has failed to proceed. Avoid.
ruffgeezer Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 I got some de-icer in a trigger spray from spar, it cleared the screen and promptly refroze. Utterly shit.
derskine Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 I got some de-icer in a trigger spray from spar, it cleared the screen and promptly refroze. Utterly shit. Very slighly warm water I find works better than anything, multiple splashings to heat the glass up prevent it refreezing too.
worldofceri Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 I find cold water works fine. It's still warmer than ice innit? explosive-cabbage 1
explosive-cabbage Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Won some second hand concrete blocks out of a skip today. Perfect for lifting a car higher from the ground when used in conjunction with the axle stands.
twosmoke300 Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Be careful using blocks , have seen them break in half and shatter with load on them. Usually caused by a stone or sharp edge . Up to you obv but I wouldn't .
Station Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 ^ Don't use them sideways - the right way they are fine. Avoid those jacks with the single U clip on the handle, they come off with a bit of heavy use and that's a dead jack (as I should know). 15 pounds Holts tyre weld - not as good as £4 Aldi tyre weld! I've done about 12 tyres with it, and it is much better than the Holts stuff (which didn't work on any!!)
