My Ka is dead

Trigger , you brought back some memories.

When I worked for a Ford dealer I had a ka loaner home one night and me and the missus christened it that evening. Now neither me or the now wife are petite but we managed. I remember having my knee in that silly cup holder carpet hole on the tunnel in the back. Getting some purchase on the job !

May I divert your "fumblings" to the correct thread?

The KA wasn't blue was it?

When I  first met Mrs Rocker she had a car-sharing arrangement with a girlfriend for their Saturday night out at the rock n roll clubs.   Mrs  R. had a  hateful Micra and girly friend had a horrible bruise coloured Ka.   I drove a wedge-shaped 280E through that agreement after one trip in the Kak.   Sorry, girls....

A boy at work who's a time served Kia/Mazda/Daihatsu/Skoda mechanic so knows a thing or 2 about good reliable cars has a Y plate Pepper red Ka Luxury with cream leather and says its a great wee car, really reliable, however he said the other day he's thinking of getting rid as the doors are starting to rust, I told him that's a great innings for a Ka as most started rusting at the doors when they were 3 years old let alone 13

I've the same engine in my fiesta, tough little bugger. I kick it's arse up and down the motorway six days a week and it never complains or returns less than 38mpg, and that's in a larger heavier car.

I don't mind them.

I always likened the radio layout to someone having sprayed contact adhesive over the dash, then stuffed a load of push buttons into their mouth, just before a massive sneeze.

It's great to find one in the scrap yard and see if you can rag the rear bumper away from the rotten bodywork, by hands alone.

My late uncle had an earlyish Ka2 at one point - for some reason on early Kas, Ford used numbers for trim levels. 2s and 3s were never common, and I bet they're all gone now.

In 2007 we were given a very basic Ka as a loan car whilst the daily was in for servicing/repairs. I think it was then around two years old. Mrs Beard rarely gives an opinion on cars as she is totally uninterested in them, but she certainly gave an opinion about the Ka!

I had a Ka2 (I called it a Ka squared, but I'm an idiot)  - the 2 meant you got electric front windows, an auto-reverse cassette deck and power steering. The Ka cubed had alloy wheels and air conditioning I think.

I had a 98-R that I paid £4995 cash for when it was two years old. I suspect I paid too much. It was tough, but it's dead now. I sold it because my job changed and I had a 20 mile run of motorway in my commute.

A few years later I bought a SportKa, which had a lovely gearbox, but got through fuel like there was a hole in the tank. That went because it was a bit small for getting a baby into the seats, but heroverthere and I have been thinking about getting another as our commute is short, and it was huge fun. And in a few years we can get flasks and get into classic car shows for free with it :)
