A few shite spots: Newark Autojumble 15/12/13

This was the first time I'd visited Newark Autojumble. I came away with some stuff even though I'd been cautioned 'not to buy any more rubbish', but I didn't think it was as good as some of the others I go to. I didn't really plan to go to Newark, as I thought I'd done for the year, but as it was such a mild and clear day plus I had the day off work, off I went. And this is what I saw.

A fantastic old car. You could smell the reek of old leather just putting your face near the windows.

I wasn't too keen on this next one. It was a big Austin, but someone has added a fake 'split' to the windscreen. Somebody threw a glove at it in disgust.

I've never seen one of these out and about - infact I can't recall seeing one at a show. Nice original car.

Judging by those wide rims, I suspect the original 1200 engine has been lifted.

More Swede. Note the Reliant and trailer in the background.

Amongst other tat there was a Metallic Tara Green Morris Marina with an elderly gent doing some pre-flight lighting checks, a late model Humber Hawk with its exhaust hanging very low, a Commer camper van and some other stuff I couldn't be arsed photographing 'cos of the incoming rain, but regret now.

Cool.

Someone on here once said that some of the best shite can be spotted in Block & Quayle car parks at the weekend, or on OAP discount day.

Top spotting, Squire D.    Loving the Isis - indeed they can be sniffed out from a locked barn 50 yards away.   Also the A55 although I would have to lose that visor - not right on those IMHO....You should at least get an I spy badge for that Bluebird, tho....

Is that Datsun Ratdats ? if it is I'm glad it's on the road now. Newarks quite good for tat spotting and will be going in the new year as I need to stock up on a few bits for my Anglia

Is Newark ok for car stuff? I dropped in there about a year ago on the way back from somewhere and it seemed to me mostly bike spares or as my mate said bike crap, tools etc. Same up here with Rufforth, its got to be at least 70% bike stuff, 29% tools, clothes and tat and one or two guys who stick it out selling car bits.

I've got no interest in bikes whatsoever but I fuppin love newark. There's loads of stalls flogging general tools and tat, plus stacks of consumables and stuff, I would say there's probably 70% "universal" stuff and then 15% bike, 15% car.

Yep, that's about right. There were about 4 stalls out of the lot that were really worth rooting through. I was after a tub of Swarfega, but even the prices here weren't much better than in the shops.

Lincoln is my favourite and I usually make the effort to go every month. Of course Beaulieu is the motherlode but that requires a good weekend there plus more cash.
