Porsche 944. Repair or break?

My most recent 1984 944 purchase has turned out to be far rustier than I thought. Sills, inner and outer are terrible, plus rear suspension mounts are crusty as fuck. Great otherwise. Good engine and gearbox etc. The interior is all good. Much as I would like to restore it the economics of time and money are important. Have done it once, and love my 1988 944 and use it daily but not sure I can be arsed doing another far worse one. What would it be worth if I broke it for parts versus restoring it and selling?

As in any point restoring it?

Were they meant to be galvanised? Sounds like it might be best to euthenise it and part it out. Sounds like a world of woe. Just my opinion mind.

Yes, they are galvanised, but the sills always rust out eventually. The galvanising starts to fail gradually after twenty years or so seemingly.

Virtually no 944's are worth repairing, most are worth more in parts, like lots of other motors.

 

When I had a 944 I used a local specialist 944 breaker for parts and he reckoned he'd get £2-2.5k for one in parts. He hated the fact that they were worth more in bits and restored a few.
