Engine stop leak suggestions

The engine I just fitted to the OH's megane has a leaking crankshaft seal between the engine and the gearbox, rather than ripping out the gearbox, clutch and flywheel, has anyone had any luck with the stuff you add to engine oil that is supposed to swell seals and stop leaks?

I've heard good things that some brands apparently work and bad things that they work for a while then cause all your seals to go soft.

Any recommendations would be appreciated!

I put some in the eunos about 200 miles ago, still leaking unfortunately, think it's the cam sensor o ring so will get it fixed at service time.

I have used some of that Lucas stop leak additive, it appeared to work, long enough to get rid, find a new owner.

I think its hit and miss tbh, they all do a similar job, but it depends on how fubarred your seal is!

A few years ago I put some Wynns stuff in my 944 to try and stop a leaky oil seal - it made it worse. I think it's luck of the draw with those liquids, but I wouldn't try another one.

If you can get to it, how about a bit of silicon around it to stop the leak - assuming that area doesn't get too hot.

I've used Lucas stuff in the past. If their gearbox additive is anything to go by, it's well worth a try.

I've ordered some Forte seal treatment from cheesebay I'll report back when the oil leak has flooded the resident's car park and greenpeace are at the door.
