Brannigan, mad chod laden 1975 car race.

So, this has made me laugh for ages. Not the greatest John Wayne film, and features a insane car race that for all of you that know London is a bit odd. In the space of 3 minutes or so the Capri goes up Latchmere Road Battersea IN BOTH DIRECTIONS from what I can make out. Then he's suddenly on York Road approaching Wandsworth Bridge Roundabout, before hooning up Trinity Rd SW. He then wrecks the car after approaching Tower Bridge from the south, then somehow turning around without us seeing and ending on the south side again. This film is notable for featuring a young Tony Robinson of Blackadder fame, and shed loads of old chod that is probably worth a bit now if it survived. Life on Mars should have used this for reference.

I love the way that the film flip-flops between locations which are many miles away from each other. It's as if the producers never expected anyone with a modicum of knowledge of the geography of London to watch it :)

You can play that game with any car chase ever.

Including Bullitt.

TV and movie people need somewhere to park all the support vehicles so if you do any location tourism you'll often find that scenes set tens of miles apart are often filmed within a few hundred yards of each other (and that massive car park).

Or, if they've got a really limited second unit \ car pool to create 'traffic' you see the same car over and over again.

The Sweeney was notorious for that; amongst other cars, a red Fiat 850 coupe (apparently onwed by one of the production team) used to appear as sreet furniture in many episodes :)

The I.T. Crowd episode with the bank robbery sees the same handful of police cars go past the camera several times.

One of my favourite films, with gratuitous mk1 granada content.

for chod spotting also see "Villain" and "Robbery"
