North Devon: The overpriced tat-land of the nation.

I THINK I got a reasonable buy just across the border in Poole. Corsa B CDX 1.4 1995,  21000 miles with a good history, new cam belt and 10,000 of those miles covered in the last 18 months. Car is pristine throughout except for a dent in the rear rh door. 500 pounds bought it . And it qualifies as autoshite in my opinion

What a beaut! CDX spec Corsa B's are hard to find you know.

Just had a quick check as I've been away from the computer a few hours. Still rubbish.

Another thing that's really rubbing me up the wrong way is communication from sellers, or lack thereof.

Yesterday I must have contacted 3-4 people about cars they're selling. They've since bumped their ads but I'm still waiting on replies. I must cyber-smell.

Oh and one car on Sunday, I tried ringing, ebay messaged and e-mailed because ZOMG I R interested in it. The guy only chose to contact me 3 days later once he sold it. Thanks then FFS.

Liverpool for a 850 T5, Bristol for an X1/9, Greenwich for an X1/9 ( That was a tat collection story of the century) Tewkesbury for a Dodge Challenger, Newcastle for a Honda Accord, 400 miles round trip for a Senator A in January, which turned out to have the heater matrix disconnected, 400 mile round trip for a Stanza,

This thread reminded me of the London X1/9 story- I shall endeavour to find it in cyberspace and cut/paste it here.. 2006 'twas.

So what's the furthest you ever went for collecting a car?

I once bought one in Beirut and drove it to Belgium, where I lived at the time.

Can't say it was a particular bargain, or saved me any money, to the contrary.

I just wanted to have it.

I can't compete with that!

Probably Wales for the RSi. If it helps, it was a thousand mile round trip with a car trailer.

Sunderland - Bournemouth (MR2 parts for my mate) - Taunton (to see another mate and grab literally 45 minutes sleep - Cardiff (buy car/load trailer - Sunderland.

Collecting Shitpeas Jag from Aberdeen was a bit of a trek, too.

Only cos public transport is wank.

It was shod with scary, plastic tyres and barely-there brakes though, so between that and the fog, I was kept on my toes.

Distance doesn't concern me when I want something. I am the type to also do an epic euro trip if the need arises.

One day, maybe.

Liverpool for a 850 T5,

I went to Renfrewshire for a T5, that the previous keeper had bought from Southport.

They must just spend their lives on the M6, those things.

Well I've found a lovely Shitroen ZX non-blower diesel. K-reg, one owner from new, 12 months MOT just been serviced. £400.

The problem is the insurance is hefty! £240 FC, (TPF&T only makes a £3 difference) with 8 years NCB, no convictions etc. I can insure much more powerful cars for that sort of money.
