another strange question!

My car has started making a knocking noise tonight. Does it more so turning right. Seems to be no play in any component of suspension or steering but when you turn steering wheel right it feels like there is no power steering but turning left feels fine. Fluid level in power steering reservoir seems fine too

Knocking when turning is normally something like a cv joint.

I thought that but all seems fine. Wouldn't affect the power steering though would it

No, it shouldn't. Seems a bit of a wierd one. Is it electric or hydraulic power steering on those? Could it be a pump fault of sorts? Might be worth removing the ps belt or the fuse if electric pump to see if the noise is still there. Might rule the pump out anyway

It's hydraulic. Power steering is lovely when turning left, right hand though is like an old scammel

Power steering hose collapsing ?, neighbour had a Volvo 240 that this happened to.

have come across a similar problem in an R reg Megane someone had at work, in a short amount of time the bugger would only turn right properly. that was a combination of a knack weed pump, and a set of bearings iirc

It has took a bit of a dive tonight. Power steering non existant on right side and knocking now. New pump with look of things then!

Move to Milton Keynes or Basingstoke. Then keep turning left.
