A big ask, but........

If you don't ask etc. etc.

Is anyone coming south (East London area), from Bromsgrove/Birmingham with an empty car transporter?

I've seen a W124 I quite fancy, but it's out of t&t.

I've had a quote for recovery, but it makes a cheap car into a dear one.

I know I've got a cheek, but I've got to ask.

Ta people.

Bloody ANPR, a few years ago, I'd have chanced driving it.

insurre it? Book a test and get home. Make sure the insurance has hit the MID before you drive though. Adding it to an existing policy is probably the quickest way to get on the MID.

Alternatively, mine is up for sale again with both Ts...

EDIT - and delivery to Birmingham is very possible.

Do you think the old bill would suffer me buying a car in Bromsgrove and booking a test in Rainham? I don't think they'd be that understanding TBH.

Have you had the welding done then, DW?

I don't know, but if I can drive a multi-coloured Mk1 Fez with no interior and overheating issues, nearly 300 miles from Bristol to Anglesey on a pre-booked MOT, then you have no excuse at all. (OK, so I wasn't stopped, but............)

Actually, my missus has a Pajero with a towbar, but believe me, she's the biggest obstacle.

You can book the test for as faw away as you like. They may not agree with it, but legally you are well within your rights.

Just insure it and you're away.

OK, I'm convinced.

Let the negotiations begin.........

Thanks people.

TBH I don't think the MOT is a biggie in the eyes of the law. It's a £60 fixed penalty. It's the insurance that's essential, which is shite cos insurance doesn't make the car safer, the MOT pass does. The police aren't interested in the lack of tax, unless they are on a big purge along with other stuff like no insurance. As usual, it's about money not safety.......

How about the road traffic act? It states you can drive to and from an MOT without road tax, but the car must be insured. It doesn't say how far/near the test station has to be, or where you start from. You are not supposed to stop on the way though, so forget going for a wee and make sure you have enough petrol!

I had to report a local scrote with no road tax to the DVLA myself, cos the police told me road tax was not their concern, they would only report the car to the DVLA. Is that proof enough?

Do you live close to him?

Fancy having a butchers for me? I've only seen photos so far.

I don't know the chap, but from his pm's, he seems decent enough.
