Awful American car suggestions

I always thought Aussie motors were less strangled by emissions gear than US ones were? They're also sometimes a bit more recognisable to us Brits, particularly the big Holdens which for years have been effectively Vauxhall's biggest motors fitted with 5 litre V8s.

Have this wrapped and sent round please... 8)

Holy shit is this shite, or what.

I had one of these, a batch of '81 model year caprices got sent over here and converted to RHD.  They don't have any of the emissions crap on them which means they are pretty torquey beasts that are easily upgradeable.  The rhd set up isn't the best, its one of those with the half-a-steering column still on the left, connected to the rhd steering wheel via a chain behind the dash. there is zero steering feel but to be fair lhd drive ones are no different!  25 mpg is realistically achievable and they have that '70s yank rowing boat/knackered shocks comedy handling. I like them a lot. this is my one, probably got bangered/engine raped a long time ago

Sweet!

On the subject of oz cars, there's lots to like about a mk3 cortina with a 4.1 straight six or indeed a marina with a 2.6 E series. I chickened out of buying a Ford Fairmont some years back (kind of a stretched Falcon/mk2 granada with a 4.1 six) because funnily enough, parts for oz market cars are only available in oz.

I think they did have the same valiant and Falcon models as the US in the '60s, they also did a chevy suburban in the '90s badged as a Holden.

These Chryslers are just lovely - the Imperial version was one of my favourite cars as a young kid, and a 7.2 as well. It's the grille and concealed headlamps. Just don't play any Radio head on the eight track...

There is a thread on this car on Piston Heads - the owner must be selling it.

It looks to be one of the Lendrum & Hartman conversions. They did the Cadillac Seville too. they were lovely looking cars. There is a road test of the RHD Caprice at the end of the thread.
