More Modern Help

The Clio at a very young age is showing signs of been inflicted with the terrible disease which affects all French cars in the end - electrical gremlins.

Long story short, since this morning the blower fan intermittently doesn't work on speed 2. But still works fine on 1 3 and 4 (don't know if I've worn speed 2 out as I never have if on any speed other than 2)

Fucking about with the speeds (flicking between all the different speeds randomly) seems to get it eventually working again until next time I switch the car off and take the key out, only it did it earlier and no amount of messing around sorted it that time so with it not working i went to Asda, was in there about 10 mins, came back out started car and it worked right away.

Now the cars still under extended warranty so i could take it back to the dealer but previous experience of doing so with intermittent faults tells me it'd suddenly work fine while they had it. They would say no fault found and not fix it so I want to try myself first. Any ideas?

They'd also probably tell you to ram it as it's unlikely to be covered by the warranty, unless you bought the car new.

It's French is this just part of the owner ship experience. If you take it back they'll look at it and not fix it, if you try to fix it yourself you might bust something and bugger up the warranty for when the fan chucks it all together . Have alook on line and see if it's a common problem. If it is you've more chance of them fixing it as they'll have knowledge of the issue.

you are discovering that modern Renaults are shit, not shite, just shit, in fact, not just shit but utter shit.

Walk away and buy an old Renault instead, which will not be shit but will be shite. Autoshite even.

A shite Renault does not have a name - it has a number!

A shit renault has a name, not a number!

This is a top tip for not buying a shit Renault but for buying a shite Renault instead.

Simply avoid buying Renaults with names and only buy Renaults with numbers.

Another top tip is to avoid Arnold Clark, which will be easy as they do not sell Renaults with numbers, only Renaults with names.

It's not Renault warranty, the Renault dealer I got it from gave me 18months warranty through themselves when I bought it which tbf has never refused anything they've found wrong with this car or the Astra i had before which came from there too, even stuff I thought they'd refuse to sort and blame on wear and tear like wheel bearings, and coil springs, hell I even got a brand new radio out of them because the old one wasnt as loud at a specific volume as other Clios.

Best to ask them to look at it. This is just the start though give it a year and the window washers will come on when you put the windows down.

Used to work for Arnies so well aware never to go near them. The warranty is with "Parks Motor Group"

Have posted on a Clio forum and been told it may be the wiring loom which connects the resistor pack shorting out and melting the block causing a poor connection. Not certain it's that though, thought those who may have dealt with older Renaults might havecome across this issue before
