pompei Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Cutting a v v long story short, Mrs P is doing a deal selling her Lexus and probably taking an 04 Citroen Berlingo in pt ex. It's a 1.9 HDI with 48k's on the clock. Query now whether to hang on to it for a short while or get rid. Are they considered "desirable" amongst the automotive buying public, or would it be a nightmare to dispose of? Any views on the ownership experience? Looked pretty spartan when I had a quick glance at it Thanks chaps
Pete-M Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 They ride surprisingly well. They depreciate spectacularly. Flog it, and flog it quickly. If it's a 2.0 HDi (which it will be) Berlingo Multispaz Forté then it's worth around £3650 on an '04' with 48k miles.
AnthonyG Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I believe they have a following. If you're looking for the best price, I'd advise selling it now as '04' is still considered pretty new by most people. Lowish miles and a diesel, should sell pretty quick. The Network Q (Vauxhall used car scheme) website has a 'value your car' tool by Glass' - I have fould this the best free valuation on the web.http://www.networkq.co.uk/nq/buyers/valuecar.do

Father Ted Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Im biased and I like them. Problematic wise very little goes wrong (check if its Bosch or Siemens electrical systems - Siemens fuel pumps are the ones to avoid like the plage as they have a habit of chucking their toys out of the pram at 70K plus). Check if the indicator stalk starts indicating left after switching off from a right turn (£168 dealer supplied part otherwise - or live with it) Heater resistor packs often go loopy on air con cars (£68 from Valeo or £150 from Citroen). But if making money is your aim - get rid as they depreciate (being Citroen) like something silly.Basically its a Xsara with a van body shell - so most parts are interchangable from the running gear. 2.0HDi or 1.9DW8 though? as i think Citroen still offered the DW8 as an option up to 2003/2004 - not 100% though - most likely the HDi (based on the XU9D - bulletproof except fuel pumps)

Any views on the ownership experience? Looked pretty spartan when I had a quick glance at itI don't think they're desirable in the slightest. You'd probably get a Picasso of the same age for around the same price. The interior is a lot less van-like and you won't have to drive around looking like Postman Pat...
Pete-M Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 My mate has a Berlingo Multispaz in Czech, it seems to cope admirably with spending half its time being thrashed down unsurfaced roads and clattering through potholes large enough to swallow a Micra even when driven by someone who's idea of sobriety is the 8 pints a day before you go for a drink. Then again, it's about 6 years old and there's still another 4 years finance left on it...
pompei Posted September 11, 2008 Author Posted September 11, 2008 We were supposed to be doing the deal today, but Blingo man rang this morning saying he'd changed his mind, grrr etc
