Autoshite How To... A Guide to Posting Pictures and More

Recommended Posts

I figured if we're expecting new members in the future, it'd be a good idea to replace the picture posting guide we used to have. This is a work in progress - it's a mess right now, but I'll clean it up and add more information about other image hosts, photo sizes etc.

  1. [*:nvbwcrsn]Underneath the image you want to share, click this icon:

[*:nvbwcrsn]A little window will open. Click Grab The HTML/BBCode
[*:nvbwcrsn]Choose an appropriate size - Medium 640 is good, anything up to 800px wide should be okay.
    [*:nvbwcrsn]Select BBCode
[*:nvbwcrsn]Copy the code and paste it into your Autoshite message.

Imgur is an excellent simple image host. You don't need an account to upload photos and unlike Photobucket there are no bandwidth restrictions. Here's how to upload and share:

  1. [*:nvbwcrsn]Go to Imgur.com
[*:nvbwcrsn]Click Upload Images. You can upload multiple images at once.
[*:nvbwcrsn]Copy the BBCode (message boards & forums) link into your Autoshite post.

Making those lovely clickable pictures for the eBay Tat thread is really quite easy, but sounds complicated when written down. It's simple once you understand the BBCode:

Here's how to make your own:

  1. [*:nvbwcrsn]On the eBay auction page, right click on the image. Click Copy Image Location (this may be worded differently in your browser, e.g 'copy image address'). In the image above, this is the image address.
[*:nvbwcrsn]Copy the eBay auction's address from your browser's address bar. This, obviously, is the auction address in the image above.
[*:nvbwcrsn]You should have ended up with a post looking like this:

The eBay images I've posted are enormous! Help!

You can alter the size of eBay images by changing the last two numbers in the address. 12 seems to be a nice size. If you want to include an image in a quote, it's gentlemanly to change the number to make the picture much smaller.

If a picture is larger than the viewer's screen, the board will hide part of it underneath the sidebar. The larger your computer screen, the less cropping you'll see.

If your quote and edit buttons are missing, here's how to get them back.

  1. [*:nvbwcrsn]Click User Control Panel
[*:nvbwcrsn]Then click the Board Preferences tab
[*:nvbwcrsn]Change My Language to English (United States)
    [*:nvbwcrsn]Click Submit
