The Norwich Car show thread made me look through my phone pics as I was sure I recognized one of those motors:

I hope that one on the trailer is on its way to being saved.

A mini update - nothing terribly good, but that's the story of my life...

My colleague Chris after I convinced him it was a Rolls Royce. What a ninny. Gurgaon, India.

Koryu Airlines (DPRK) behind the Korean Air Jumbo. I watched the North Koreans in the baggage claim area. Woah - there's scary.

There is a North Korean restaurant a few floor below my Beijing office - the waitresses are all from there. I bet £100 you can't make them smile.

A340's are starting to look a little like '93 Mondeos now aren't they? Manila, I think.

Great name for a pastry shop.

Possibly the biggest burger ever to be sold from a room service menu. It was absolutely awful. Burger-shite.

That burger looks grim. Did they slice it like a bloody cake for you?

I missed this thread first time 'round. Struggling with some of the Asia-only moderns -

Are those two Toyotas? Innova and new shape Avanza maybe?

The one at the back is a Suzuki (not Maruti branded). Some have Alto badges, others have WAGONR. I'll get better pics when I get back there later this year. This model has been replaced now and I think this was a bit of a filler between the WagonR model that we had, and the current one.

That is indeed an Innova in front.

I worry about the Jaguars / LR's / Maserati etc who all look to India as a great market. There may be the money there, but given the state of the roads and the style of driving, I doubt very much whether too many will be sold there. Most wealthy Indians that I have experienced biff around in an Innova, or a Prado for special occasions. Their sons lust after nice motors but are told to buy them in US or UK where it is deemed more suitable. Outside Mumbai, you really don't want to advertise the fact you are important or wealthy. China and Russia it isn't!

By the way, if anyone banks with HSBC and has ever become embarassed at not understanding / infuriated at the strength of the Delhi accent when being passed through a call centre, the building in the background is the HSBC call centre.

He really should tidy up his garage.

Those Innova things look a bit dopey, but they're an ace tool for developing countries, I reckon. For those who don't know, they're an MPV thing, built by Toyota on the oily bits of of the recent 2wd Hilux. They have quite a high floor over the ladder chassis, so have less space inside than you may think, but they're fairly cheap and tough-as-old-boots. Definately a more sensible family vehicle (speaking for Thailand) than the default 'two seat plus tiny bench' pickup truck, or the 'I'm all that' Fortuner fuck truck.
