I have summoned the bottle to get some estimates for having both sides of my SD1 painted black - it will need some filling and prepping to blend in the welded repairs I have carried out, namely the n/s rear wheel arch, n/s front wing and both sills - I have let metal into the o/s front wing and rear quarter.

Has anybody had anything similar done recently in the NW/Cheshire area? I would'nt mind a ballpark figure to go off, there are some shops round here who are fairly reasonable, however I am conscious that if I have to pay £1000 to have it done, then adding parts and materials that I have bought - new panels, welding wire etc (but not counting labour as I have done it myself)I probably could have bought a straight one for what I have spent.

Anybody had anything similar done lately? I am prepared to be told it will be expensive.

If you do all the prep work yourself it will make it MUCH cheaper.

For black, you either need to pay a lot of put up with the fact it won't look perfect. Worst colour for showing ripples and imperfect wob.

Is it not worth having a go yourself? Spend hours prepping and bang some black on, any runs can be removed once dry.
