FS: 1992 Citroen BX 17TXD Turbo - £SOLD

You know I said it'd take me ages to find a turbo diesel estate? Well, it took one day and I'm collecting it on Saturday!

This means I need to flog my trusty turbo diesel hatchback.

In summary, very good structure bar one or two areas. The passenger front door hinge has had a messy but strong repair, there's some corrosion behind the rear bumper that needs tackling (not an MOT issue unless you fit a tow bar) and there's some jacking damage to the offside sill.

Had a cambelt around 94k miles and a clutch around that time (albeit a cheap one, it does judder). Now has 109,800 on it. I've had the rear arm bearings replaced, one rear brake pipe, offside front lower balljoint, both strut returns (from AEP), offside front caliper and both handbrake cables (brand new). Still has a minor weep from the FDV. Front pads are brand new, other discs/pads far from old.

It drives really nicely, though the spheres may benefit from a re-gas. Or it might just be me used to softer BX spheres. Accumulator sphere is brand new. Height controllers are a little reluctant - no intermediate and lever needs a tug to get it to rise.

Paintwork is pretty poor, especially the bonnet and the rear spoiler (both plastic). Interior is very tidy. Heater control is not that good but the tap does still move manually. Heater fan works on all settings. Both front windows and the sunroof work well, though the sunroof switch is a bit reluctant in the Up position.

Roof rack available, but not the ladder.

I am not in the market for such a thing as this, but have to say that it looks like a total sex machine, and I hope it finds a good buyer. I have very happy memories of nuttering about in a borrowed BX GTi circa 1990. The build quality on that one was intensely shit, and at just a year or two old it looked like it had been buried in dung for about 1000 years, but the car was a hoot to drive.

The trim is rather brittle. The glovebox appears to be grey rather than black, though it's hard to tell. The glovebox hinges are particularly soft, so it's probably been replaced.

What I love is 0-60mph in less than 11 seconds, 70mph=2600rpm and 54mpg! Only selling because I want a load lugger. Can optionally come with some really stupidly huge rear speakers (not sure what I was thinking) but I have an unmolested parcel shelf if you prefer.

Oh and MOT is November, tax is up end of March but can put more on at expense.

Amazing car!

My mum had one back in the day, it was supremely comfortable to ride in and all my friends were really jealous of the cool rising suspension. They were also really jealous that it would break down every single time it rained, resulting in me getting loads of days off school while we tried to coax it into life.

Best of luck finding it a new home

It's probably worth adding that the front splitter is almost as valuable as the car itself these days.

Why do nice ones always come along just after I've bought a shed?

True that. The fog lights are probably worth a few quid as well - no idea if they work or not as they're not wired in. The TXD never had them and it wears a TZD front bumper.

I do know someone with a good front bumper correct for the model. Someone who'd be interested in the splitter and fog lights so a deal could probably be done. I was working on it before finding the estate!

Good luck with the sale Mr Wobbler. I hope it goes to another enthusiastic enthusiast type person like the stripey one did :)

My BX must be wort a fuppin fortune as it has fogs, splitter, tailblazer & leather. Did not know until relatively recentley these bits were in demand!
