Sounds almost viable Dave, but unfortunately, viable only for someone much nearer to you geographically. I'm going to have to declare myself out of this one. Best of luck though!

Cheers matey.

It's on Ebay now, with a BIN of 300 quid.

Hmmmm. Just been out front with this. Started first shot, and started whining intermittently. I stuck my head in the engine bay and the noise seemed to be coming from the opposite end to the box. I sprayed some wd equivalent onto the pulleys. Then I jumped in and tried selecting gears. I ran through the range but it didn't select any, but the whining has stopped. It was ticking over as quiet as a mouse. I'm beggining to wonder if this is just a selector problem. My hands were totally numb by then, so I shut everything down and came in.

Stupid question, and stating the bleedin' obvious, but I seem to recall that fluid levels have to be spot on with that 'box'

Yep, the fluid level is pretty much where it should be, but is not the right colour.

It's more of a brown than cherry red.

I just wish it wasn't so bone cracking cold out. I'm still tempted to do the service myself, just to eliminate it.

I'm not laying under the car in this weather though, with ATF running up my arms.

When the brass monkey has buggered off, suggest drain and re-fill, along with new filter, and a squirt of Lucas' finest transmission additive [only snake oil stuff I've ever used which actually works..........]

As I said before, it might be easier weighing the bugger in and selling the alloys than having to deal with those pricks. I got more than £300 out of doing that with my Voyager.

Seems a real shame to do that. I can't help but get the feeling this doesn't want much doing to it. It was running and driving so well before this.

Someone could get a lot more use out of this.

Gumtree tomorrow. Then watch out for the dickheads.

Well, I put it on Gumtree with the message - texts preffered as I can't always get to my phone. Every single enquiry was a phone call - which I couldn't get to.

Probably going to scrap this tomorrow. Bloody shame.

Well, I gave up with the ebay ad. Despite me putting in the ad 'cannot be driven', I had one chap contact me to ask if it could be driven to Norfolk (I'm in East London/Essex). So, I thought sod it, and called Car Takeback, was offered a reasonable price collected from my home, so agreed to have it collected. I was told an operator would contact me to arrange collection - nothing. Then, this morning I logged on to my inbox to find an Ebay message telling me the Voyager had sold. Happy days. Sent the buyer an email asking when he'd like to come and get it, supplied both my phone numbers - nothing.

I'm just starting to get the hump now. Why on earth click the 'buy it now' when there's no intention to buy

Request his contact details off eBay and ring him up. Theres a small chance he has actually given them his proper phone number.

I appreciate you must all be getting quite bored with this.

I found the buyers phone number (he has a shop on ebay), and after some to-ing and fro-ing, he was supposed to collect the Voyager yesterday, as this was the only day I've got off this week.

Yeah, you guessed it. After waiting all day with my phone on and frequently checking online for messages - a no show.

To stick the boot in, I got my bill from ebay yesterday as well. £30. As far as they're concerned, the car is sold, so I got the full bill.

Lost out on a month's tax refund too. As it sold on ebay, I left the tax on for the new owner. Now I will only get one month's refund instead of two.

By that TWAT clicking the 'buy it now' button, he's cost me about 50-odd quid.

I think that will be my first and last selling adventure on ebay.

I've contacted them to see what they can do.

I've also contacted the buyer to tell him how much he has cost me.

Hope no-one upsets me at work tonight.......

Keep in checking on the date/liaise with eBay as you'll get your final valuation fees back after a certain amount if time. Then pm me later for some payback suggestions for dickhead no show bidder.

Stick his details up, I'm in the mood for mongs today. I've only been in work for 24 minutes, and I swear I'll have stabbed someone by 9.06 if the current level of staff stupidity is ongoing.................

Thanks chaps, but I'll get it sorted before I let him have too much of a public slagging.

I'll contact Car Takeback again later. They actually offered me a reasonable price collected from my home, but I cancelled the deal when it 'sold' on ebay.

They did say I could go back to them if I were let down by the buyer.

I still think this only needs a fluid and filter change, as I was moving it around last week.

If I were 10 years younger and the weather was 10 degrees warmer, it'd be done by now.

Trouble is, getting someone to take it on without the guarantee a good gearbox service would cure it.

How bad is the noise and does it do it at low speed? If not then a car auction with a reserve set might be worth a bash? Assuming it still drives of course.

Personally, I wouldn't drive it until the gearbox has at least been serviced.

No, I think Car Takeback is going to be the only option here.

Thanks for the idea though, Billy.

That's that done AGAIN.

Car Takeback are having it.

Hi Dave

feel your pain with ebay mongs

the mondeo that the previa replaced was ebayed and a 0 rated bidder won it, with obviously no intention of completing the sale

ebay has certainly been damaged by the removal of being able to neg idiot bidders.

http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ResolutionCenter is where you can open a case for non payment, and you will get the final value fee repaid and hopefully the listing fee as well. at least that is how it panned out for me

i too am a bit disheartened by the whole selling process. 1 good runner but tatty (mundano) and one tidy car with a couple of possibly minor issues(megane of despair) both with 10 months mot and they will being crushed within the next week as the least troublesome solution :|

makes me a bit sad really

Hello Mel. Hope the Previa is serving you well after the initial hiccups.

If only all cars were that reliable.

The GV is going on Tuesday. All agreed and arranged now.

End of story.

It's gone.

Ironically, it drove onto the transporter perfectly.
