Autoshiters looky. SKODA!!!

They're good, I remember mine fondly, but really uninteresting to drive.

Estate is a bonus, as is the not-rattly non-Skoda non-pushrod engine. :) They go on forever! They're also not 'a polo underneath', they're a Favorit still.

Is this deffo not the pushrod engine? What are they like on pez?

I miss my Favorit Blackline, with the rattly OHV 1.3 engine....

I think they either updated to engine to a newer VW one, or just simply replaced the rocker cover or at least the throttle body.

I will never forget the constant rattle of that engine, and the utterly fruitless setting up of valve clearances.

Wikipedia says that the OHV engine remained in production as long as the Felica did - until 2001! Incredibly, they apparently sold 1.4 million of them. That's the same number as Citroen Dyanes.

I still prefer the Favorit...

The 1.3 is definately the overhead valve engine with manually adjusted valve clearances, the 1.4 version used on the Fabia had hydraulic lifters. Watch out for a failing thermostat and a whining noise on 5th gear - which if caught in time is end of the gearbox off and replace the gear retaining nut.

Argh, that's right, a new engine was used in the Fabia!

Count how many adverts claim it has a Volkswagen engine or is a Polo underneath.

The Felicia is based on the Favorit, which was designed and put into production before VW bought Skoda. It's a testament to Skoda that VW developed the Favorit into the Felicia, rather than just binning it and producing a Skoda badged Polo from the outset.

Skoda used a 1.4 version of this engine in the Fabia, they also used a VW 1.4 16 Valve engine in the Fabia.

Here's my old one - it took longer to sell than a tramps heavily soiled underpants and definitely broke my record for time wasting 'I'll deffo buy it' morons, and was 'sold' in the end when my brother asked in if it was still for sale (to which I replied in passing that it was) , and then he sold it under my nose to a Pole who used it to go back home for a paltry 300 quid (with 11 months MOT and 5 months tax). He must've assumed I gave him full rights to sell it for me at a shit price.
