Does anyone want to save a 1987 Austin Maestro Mayfair?

I'm posting this on behalf of a colleague who wants to get shot of his first car one way or another. It's a stalled project that he wouldn't mind a hand in, or co-ownership if the conditions are right, i.e. you can supply space and time. Mileage is 58,707.

I don't know a great deal about it, other than it's located in Chester, it's a 1986 \ 87 Maestro Mayfair in gold-beige with a brown interior, and if you offer Nick something over weigh-in money, it's yours. Any further questions or information can be directed at me via PM and I'll pass then on to them on to him.

Here's what Nick had to say about it :

The only obvious rust is just under the front grill, under the boot lid and one of the wheel arches although I haven't examined the other side properly.

The bonnet is very dirty in the photo but the colour is gold (cashmere gold from what I've read) and it has a brown velour interior. It's the Maestro Mayfair but the electric windows were replaced by manual levers. The engine is not in running order but from what I remember, it just needed a starter motor. The car has been there for a few years though so will need to be taken away on a truck I suspect. This is just my assumption and anybody interested is welcome to drop by and have a look.

I'm not necessarily after a lot of money although it would be good to at least get the scrap value of the car. The most important thing is that I want to find a good home though as it would be great to see my good old Maestro live to see another road. It has a lot of sentimental value as it has been in the family since new, If I had the time/money to work on it myself and the space (it's in my parents' garden), the car would stay but that's not the case unfortunately!

I would possibly consider taking on a joint project to fix it up for the road if anybody has the space.

Here are the pictures he sent me. They were the size of the Graf Spee eating Munich, so I've re-sized them a wee bit. I really should get him on here - he's a bona-fide shitest. He runs a Ford Probe 24V as his everyday car. I think I'm the only person in the office who likes it.
