Thinking of a New Smoker.

I think they look much better in R/T spec. I got over 30mpg for it but I drove it pretty hard. The R/T's 150bhp so it felt quick and rev'd like a bastard. The Puma I've got just now kind of reminds me of it actually. I had a problem with one of the stalks on the dash and I think the top mounts on the rear shocks where shagged out. Parts from the dealer are laughable. It was 20 odd quid for a wheel centre that's a bit of metal a bit bigger than a 50p.

I paid 700 quid for it maybe 4 years ago, so the equivilant of a 54/55 plate now. It felt mega value for money at the time.

Not bad at all - I'll need to research them next time I'm back home and looking for a set of wheels. :)

We use one of these as our "loan car", its a leather clad 54 plate manual in bonny blue. In the 2 years we have had it, it hasnt missed a beat, it has however only done 50k. I have offered it to numerous customers for £1500 retail in that time, and no one has taken me up on it. I quite like it.

Did a bit of further reading - it appears that Stateside, it was Mitsubishi (Eclipse) that used the Chrysler engines....

Mitsubishi have a long history of co-operation with Chrysler - many Voyagers and other Chrysler vehicles use(d) Mitsubishi engines and also some platforms were shared. For example, the Mitsubishi Eclipse was built on a Chrysler platform and some Chrysler Sebrings were built on Mitsubishi platforms.

As for the Neon, their reputation for head gasket failure matches the Rover K4 (but still falls way short of the KV6).

It needs 4 brake fleix pipes to be safe and a tyre, otherwise a clean bill of health.*

looks tidy. I've had nothing to do with these but they look inoffensive enough and I'd be happy to run one. the odd ones you do see for sale look like a lot of car for the money

Aye, 2.0 Auto. First car I've ever owned where I've just jumped in and drove it. I will service it at some point, but the whole thing just feels 'right'. In fact, of all the years I've ran shitters, only the Maestro come as close as this for being a sound car.
