purplebargeken Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 Bloody Enfield council want to introduce a poxy CPZ in my area. It will cover Mon to Sun, 09:30 to 6:30. This is to combat the alleged parking difficulties that the council have identified as being rampant in the immediate area. I would love to know what drugs these arses are using because during the CPZ hours it isn't a problem. It only gets a little bit tricky after 6:30pm when everyone comes back from work. Yet these arses want to charge us £405 to have the pleasure of parking 3 cars in the road. This is the second 'consultation' that they have sent out. I wonder how much they have had to pay the private company to do this? Now it looks like I will have to sell the Granada as I will have nowhere to keep it. Bastards! Rant over.
Lacy Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 Maybe I'm being a bit thick here but, if everyone wanted to park three cars on the road, where would you park your cars?
FredTransit Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 135 quid a year!!! FFS that's taking the piss!! Where do they get their figures from? Buy a Sherman tank and pay nowt.....
ProgRocker Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 A CPZ has been introduced in my area back in January and it was the good thing to happen in my view. The council also painted a nice pair of double yellow lines along the side of the entrance road on an iffy bend. Before that it was a right fucking pain if you met a car coming in the opposite direction. And so now the cheapskates who try to avoid paying to park in close to City centre have to find somewhere else to park. I live on an estate of flats and just the roadside parking requires permits (and limited parking for up to 2 hours). Although I don't need a parking permit to park in my bay, I have one as a contingency just in case some inconsiderate twat chooses to park in it. However, the CPZ in my area doesn't apply on Sundays so the roadside parking will be nose to tail tomorrow during the Norwich v Sunderland match. And the fucker with the newish Zafira MPV and blue disabled badge will park right of the fudging bend on those aforementioned double yellow lines.
FredTransit Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 When the CPZ was brought in by us, the day before there was maybe 10 cars parked in the street, and our vans. The day after we were still parked, but 8 of the cars were on drives. There was no need for the CPZ, it was just a money making exercise
gtd2000 Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 Gentlemen, I had a glimpse of the future back in 1995~2001, when I lived in Hong Kong. You can only legally park in a "designated parking area". So that means technically, if you were parked in the middle of a field and there was no parking sign, you could get a ticket The plus side was that there were hardly any cars parked in the street.
Largactil Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 Get some sub 1100cc shite - If they're anything like Brent council, you can apply for a free permit...
purplebargeken Posted December 3, 2012 Author Posted December 3, 2012 3 cars maybe but only one is parked there during the CPZ operating hours and that is my Daf 33. Parking during the day isn't a problem, nor is in the evening really, it is rare you can't park in the road. So it irks me that I would have to buy 3 permits for something that only slightly impacts after the CPZ hours of operation, especially when I would still have to pay for the weekend parking which is even less of a hassle for space. The rates will be for 1st, 2nd or 3rd cars (price per car/permit): Up to 100g per km of CO2 - £20, £25, £30 (not one of these banded cars in the road at all) 101g to 150g or engine size up to 1549cc - £90, £135, £180 151g - 185g or engine size 1550cc to 3000cc - £100, £150, £200 188g and above or engine size 3001cc or over - £120, £180, £240 Maybe I should take up drink and drugs, perhaps robbing old folk as that seems to be less of a crime than having a car or two beyond the norm and being all road legal (unlike half the bastards round here) If you are over 65 you get a 50% discount. No freebies for low cc stuff sadly as all of my current cars would qualify (well apart from the Toledo and the Granada which are stored elsewhere). Anyone fancy a C reg 2.8 carb fed Mk2 2.8 Granny by the way?
Mr_Bo11ox Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Tell them your daf produces 0.6g of CO2 per km
