Ashover Classic Show, etc.

Went to Ashover Classic Show in Derbyshire on Sunday. Superb turn-out in good weather and a stunning location. But, before I get to that, also went to a Performance car Show at Elvington on Saturday. Not so impressed (£15 to get in was too much, and charging £3:50 for a 99 is daylight robbery!!) However, in amongst all the Scoobys and Evos, there were a few others which caught my eye.

This Talbot Sunbeam had a 2 litre Cossie under the bonnet, and was really impressive around the handling course.

Looks like it was always meant to be there!

Equally well sorted Mk 1 Escort, also with 2 litre Cossie power.

Didn't see this run, so can't comment!

This, however, was AWESOME! Lovely Mk 2 Granada Ghia, but with turbcharged V8! Sounded GORGEOUS and went like stink!!

Now - on with the show (pics) Where to start? Would take all night to post all my photos, so will just select some of "our" sort of cars.

Classic!

IMG_3714.jpg

How is it possible? These things all dissolved in about 2 years - does the owner have a time capsule?

IMG_3715.jpg

Oh my GOD! There's TWO of them!

I could hardly believe my eyes when this turned up! Genuine '32 Ford Model B pickup, completely stock, and with the kind of patina the rat-look brigade try SO HARD to achieve! Right hand drive too, so not a recent import. And look at the driver!

IMG_3530.jpg

IMG_3531.jpg

And look at the cabin - AWESOME!

IMG_3532.jpg

Oh, here's a couple more Vauxhalls I missed before

Some nice stuff there, thanks!

Shame the organisers couldn't be arsed to cut the grass a bit though.

Weather issues! Up to 2 days previous, they thought it'd have to be called off due to soggy ground. A couple of days of good sun saved it, but guess too late to get the tractors in.

In some pics the grass & car combination works... ;-)

Lovely pics! Can I have the green Cresta please? If not, the white Consul Classic? Pretty please?

Lovely photos, I can't remember seeing that Kadett B Coupe before either, That looks like my kind of show even if the grass is a bit of a mess.

Fab photos! That Ford pickup in particular. GR8 for the school run.

Is it just me who HATES it when people leave their wipers unparked like this? Probably should get a life etc etc, but it does my head in, stinks of laziness!

That model B aint no stocker!

And the 'Crab' is a Maxi...

What is the little thing sitting next to the Harlequin Classic?

The Escort Cabriolet is probably by Gartrac, who build mk 1 / 2 Escort rally cars.

Yeah, this.

Some stunning cars on display there. I really like the Opel Kadett at the bottom.

Really? I did wonder when I saw the gear stick - sure the original wasn't there! He never opened the bonnet, so no idea what's under there - the stock front axle and cart-sprung rear made me think it was stock.

And the 'Crab' is a Maxi...

So it is!! Never was much of a BL fan!
