I thought I would offer this up on here first.

I bought this car nearly 3 years ago on eBay, but now I fancy a change. Since I bought it it’s had:

New heavy duty battery

New alternator

Brake callipers overhauled with new pistons and seals

New front brake hoses

New brake discs and pads

Fuel tank cleaned out inside and a gauze strainer fitted. (it had the usual Rootes flaky paint problem when I bought it

Electronic ignition fitted

New plugs

New air filters

New top radiator hose

New throttle cable

New thermostat

It had a recon radiator in April ’09 and I’ve put fresh antifreeze in it. The oil pressure takes a few seconds to come up when it’s been standing for a week or two so I got into the habit of spinning it over with the choke in first but the pressure is fine when driving. It has the usual Rootes oil leak from the front pulley (no oil seal on these) but probably looks worse than it is as it never seems to need topping up. The auto ‘box changes up and down as it should, I was told by the previous owner that it had had a recon ‘box at some point but I’ve no proof. Tyres are all good, including the spare.

It looks to have had new rear arches, sills and wings at some point, and has obviously been resprayed. The worse bit is the O/S front wing, its bubbling around a hole where it looks like an aerial was fitted and has a shallow dent and a touched in scab in front of the wheel. The front valence is scabby and there is a large ‘flake’ of paint missing from the scuttle (that’s the best way I can describe it). The corner of the O/S rear wing has had a knock and the paint on the bottom of the N/S front wing is a different shade as I rattle canned it after doing some work. Underneath it’s had the usual patches you’d expect on a 44 year old car, last year I replaced a 12†square of the front passenger floor, about 18†of inner sill, 12†of chassis rail and the outrigger. The sill and wheel arch trims, and the trim strips for the boot lid and the bottom of the back panel aren’t fitted but will come with car.

When I bought it the interior wood trim had been poorly re-varnished, I obtained better replacements for most of it, bar the trim around the vent on the left of the dash and the driver’s door capping. I’ve fitted the dash and console trims but not the door cappings, but again they will come with it. I also fitted a pair of good front seats as the originals were split. The back seat is good, apart from a small part of a seam that needs re-stitching. There are no rips in the headlining. The clock doesn’t work and is disconnected and the rev counter has a mind of it’s own. Sometimes it doesn’t work, and when it does it reads twice the actual revs… The front carpets are home made and the sill tread plates need re-fitting.

Its MOT’d until June 2013 and has 12 months (free) tax

There is a load of paperwork with the car, including the original green logbook, old MOTs, factory and Haynes workshop manuals, club magazines and brochures ect. There are also some spares with it, including 3 doors and a boot lid.

Car is located in Leicester.

Asking price £1000 ono

PM me if you want to know anthing else (I've probably forgot something)

Looks nice - smart colour.

I'll bear it in mind when I finally manage to finish sorting the one I already have! :D

What's the story with those plates? They look a bit foreign...

Added some interior photos.

They're just silver on black plastic digit ones that were on when I bought it, but I've no idea why there's a big space between the '6' and the 'G'

Forgot to mention, bit of a long shot but I'd be interested in a deal on a Farina Oxford or Cambridge.
