Anyone want my Rover 820?

OK, have had this car since Feb and it has been fun and very comfortable but it has reached the end of the road with me.

Last straw was replacing the turbo which was a pig of a job - only to discover when all set up that the replacement turbo has a failed oil seal.

With the 740 turning up on Monday and the Scooby also reaching its sell by date I have decided to get rid of the vitty

treat as a non runner - anyone want any bits before it gets weighed in:

has a cat back stainless exhaust, a baily dump valve and fitting kit, a manual boost controller and boost gauge and a niceish grey leather interior form a sterling

Bah! Lack of space and time counts me out unfortunately Scoots, whilst I'm not a huge fan of 0MGz TUr80Z 800s, I still would have loved to have had this. Sorry to hear its given you such a bad time.

I might be interested in some bits, but logistics might be a problem unless we can sort something out,

Bits I'm looking to get are:

Stereo (Has it got a CD changer in the boot?)

Door cards,

Floor Mats,

Centre floor console lid (The leathery one)

Headrests (Only if you are letting the interior go with the car to scrap)

I'm tempted to say the whole interior but I really dont have the space to be honest.

Does it just need a turbo? Is oil pissing out of it?

I've always fancied a turbo Rover. How much would you want for it?

Hi Mo/Lacquer

The turbo is the only real issue - just needs a new one - the orignial is lunched and the replacement is also screwed - the oil leak sadly makes the car undrivable even if the turbo is disengagd.

you can have the whole car for £200 - less than scrap value - got some parts as well - inlet manifold/throttle/coil pack/dump valves/etc - car is taxed for about 5 months - as budget is tight I'm afraid I'm not in a position to throw in the tax for that cost.

If you want to have a natter send me a PM with your phone number-

Mo, if the car doesn't go to LP then you can has what bitz you need mate innit.

Ive enjoyed the car and will definately have another but will get one which is in a better condition - this one would be a good track car if you were to strip it out because the running gear is all good

Great stuff. To be honest, I hope Lacquer Peel gets the car, I've been agreeing to buy bits off cars here and there, not a good thing when your trying to save up money and running out of space.

Hi all, car needs to go very soon - I might be able to blank off the oil feed and the coolant feed to the turbo if you wish to drive the car away.

is the turbo oil outlet pipe OK? Not blocked or kinked or bodged up? TBH if your replacement turbo span smoothly and didn't have shitloads of play in the bearing it should work, they don't really have an oil seal as such.

I'll have another look BOL

as is I suspect that the return flange isn't sitting properly which wont help but I also saw weeping coming from the joint between the compressor and the turbo proper...

to make matters more challenging one of the threads for the bolts that hold the manifold chamber onto the turbo compressor body is borked - makes it very difficult to tighten the nut sufficiently.

Whilst all these jobs are not insurmountable per se - the reason why I am moving it on is because its a daily driver (tool) and I am spending too much time keeping it on the road and too much money (albeit in small increments) buggering around with bits and pieces.

If I could keep it as a toy I would do but I need to generate some dosh to purchase the Saab 9000 -

in the meantime I am using THE GOLDEN TURD which, lets face it is probably about the most sensible and toughest car that has sat on the drive of Scooters Towers for many a moon.. If the coffers improve quickly in the next week or so I might hold onto it - I'm only offering it on here and the 820 Index.
