Insurance FAIL

Due to payday being on the last day of the month this time I've held off taxing my daily driver Toyota Starlet until now when I had finances again. I was late for work yesterday so I didn't get chance to gather up all the bits and go and do it, so I thought I'd toddle off down to the P.O. this morning (Saturday).

I've just discovered that my insurance runs out tomorrow and I haven't had any form of reminder through!! The last contact I had was last month when I added the Sunny to the policy and I wish I'd been a bit more vigilant about the dates. The offices are closed until Wednesday now so I can't do anything about it. The insurer is Footman James and I've never had any trouble with them before. I can't believe they haven't sent me a reminder.

I've had to put the Toyota on SORN so I don't get copped for a fine there and I can't drive anything after today until I get it sorted. Also, when they say midnight on 3rd June is that midnight tonight when the day changes or midnight tomorrow???!!!! Can I drive tomorrow?

Part of me wants to ring and get insured elsewhere this morning but it's such a fecking about for 5 cars and I've never come close with the price to my existing insurers.

I shall ponder it and let you know my decision. Frick.

If it's showing up as insured on the mid, could you not tax it online? Assuming you got a reminder through for the tax, that is.

But surely if it has insurance today they should still tax it?? It has to have current insurance and it has!

Yes, I should have been able to tax the Toyota. When I realised what had happened I decided not to bother doing the PO run but see if I could sort out the insurance instead and then sort the tax out next week, with hindsight I maybe ought to have but I was slightly* annoyed this morning!

I got a couple of quotes but they're about £150 more than what I've been paying and not quite like for like either - my current policy is unlimited mileage for all and I can use the cars for work purposes if I want which was something I needed to do occaionally in my last job.

Oh well, teach me to take more notice in future.
