Sherpa Steering Box

On the subject of Leyland Sherpas from 1975 with wandering steering wheels with more play than a swing park, does anyone know when they stopped using steering boxes in the Sherpa vans and anything about interchangability?

It's just that I found a 1983 one and wanted to know if I could get it and fit it at some point.

I don't know whether the later boxes interchange, but I do know that they usually adjust up fairly well.

I'll test this theory after the run down the M4 on Monday.

I worked on a 2004 LDV 400 the other day, and it still had a steering box.... and kingpins!

I am pretty sure they used steering boxes right up until the last ldv pilots. check your kingpins too, they are supposed to be greased every 1000 miles and seldom get done. changing them is either an easy job or a right pain if they are stuck in.
