Anyone used HSS tool hire with good result?

So I need to weld. My welder is SHITE. If it's not causing the electric trips to go then it's getting its wire stuck. It is a crappy gasless one so doesn't weld big anyways..

I'm looking at that HSS Hire place as they have a basic MIG welder for a reasonable hire. Has anyone used them??

My mates boss hired angle grinders from them for £75 a week. The angle grinders were great, about as good as you'd expect for a £50 Bosch grinder.

I have used HSS pretty good in my experience, good service and decent quality kit also able to haggle on hire rates.

Hired sanders and stuff from them. Guys in the one near me are spot on and as it is near heathrow it is 24hr.

We hired demolition kit form HSS Shore Road, Belfast. Sledges, Stihl saws, chainies and the like. The blokes who delivered it to site were superb, and noticed that our starbar scaff was leaning. (we hadn't). Bacon sarnies all round and a good old natter was had.

Thumbs up from me.

Yeah, I've used the one local to me to hire some acro props, you need photo ID to hire, I used my MOT smart card and ended up fixing and testing the guys car.

They are generally pretty clued up, some staff ive met have been 'in the trade' and got them selves an honest job in a poacher turned gamekeeper style

Sounds good doods. Gonna give the welder a last try to work ( managed to get the wire to feed now but it's sticking around the torch handle area, feeds fine if you pull it) It's annoyng coz I've only got a little bit to complete on this job..

We use them a lot at work and generally they are good. We tend to favour A Plant slightly as they seem better stocked!

What welder is it? A new liner is about £6 and can transform a welder wire feed issues.

I don't 100% recall but think it might be 'clark' or something. It is named 'handymate'. I'll see about the hire because I also have inner rear wings to do and I don't think this one will be up to that.

Oh, I missed the gasless bit. Hard work on thin stuff, I'd deffo be hiring/buying something that can take gas for anything bodywork related.

Used them five times, no problems except I borrowed a Router which unbeknown to me had bits missing. Explained why I kept stuffing up my worktop! Apparently one East London branch is terrible, but the ones local to me have all been very good.

I wouldnt fancy renting a welder, theyre cheap enough to buy and you never know if you're going to have to piss about with a shonky bodged-up wire feed or worn out torch liner or whatever. Flog yours on retro-rides (they always sell, i've done exactly this) and buy a better one, what about this?

Sounds a reasonable deal.
