Rover 200 shocks

Does anyone know anything about the front suspension setup on "bubble" 200s? The Rover of Doom is in urgent need of a new pair of front shocks, but an eBay search reveals hundreds of matches for the R8 and lots for the 25, but far less choice for mine, and the cheapest on there are almost 50 quid a pop including postage, which is more than I want to pay. Is the front setup of the bubble completely different to the R8? I know they changed the design for the 25 so I'm assuming 25 shocks wouldn't fit.

If the internet is to believed (haha!) then the front setup is carried over from the R8, but stuff on ebay seems to be listed for either the R8 or R3, not both, so it's probably lies. I thought that bubble/25s were essentially the same... Is there a big price difference with parts for the earlier cars? Is it worth taking the risk of getting the earlier/cheaper parts and trying them? Bodgery, I know... The ride in mine is terrible at the moment (also a 220 SDi), so it'll need money spending at some point soon, but I'm ignoring the crashy ride and bump steer for now...

Shocks are different lengths between R8 and R3, and the R3 also has shorter ones again as fitted to the ZR. Wuvs PM me your car's original reg no or the VIN, and I'll get you the MGR part number that you need. Hopefully you'll be able to cross reference from that.
