Baz Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 I saw a familiar car today....Sporting some very UNFAMILIAR wheels! Looks pretty good....How about a pic for the lads?
MrRegieRitmo Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Baz! You've been very quiet recently? Welcome back.
wuvvum Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Yup. A mate of mine is using the 11 at the moment - was probably him you saw driving it. Those wheels are off my late lamented R9 Turbo. The 11 now has the engine from the 9 Turbo as well after the original engine ate its flywheel. I'll see if I can get a couple of pics over the weekend.
Baz Posted June 7, 2008 Author Posted June 7, 2008 Baz! You've been very quiet recently? Welcome back. Thanks Reg....I've not had much online time lately....I've been lurking - I dip in every coupla days! I feel a bit of a Shite fraud now that I drive an MX-5 (fantastic car by the way )....Who knows, the R20 may eventually arrive ( ) but meantime, I finding myself scouring Ebay/Autotrader/Classifieds for old Mazdas....Fer chrissake don't tell the wife though, she'd kill me! Would've loved to attend the recent event, but with the R9 being away getting it's new manifold I had nothing to bring!Wuvvum....Sorry 'bout the flywheel....Feel quite bad now!
MrRegieRitmo Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Those wheels are off my late lamented R9 Turbo. The turbo's dead? What happened?

Any update on that infamous R20? Old ones like wuvvum's ex 323? You missed a trick there then!
wuvvum Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Wuvvum....Sorry 'bout the flywheel....Feel quite bad now! Erm... why? You gave me the car for free - I can't exactly expect it to come with a 12-month warranty, can I?
wuvvum Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 The turbo's dead? What happened? It's a long story, and one I'm not going to go into here. Suffice to say that I'm not at all happy about it.
MrRegieRitmo Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Oh well as long as I didn't miss it posted in another thread. I didn't think I'd heard about that one!

Any update on that infamous R20? Old ones like wuvvum's ex 323? You missed a trick there then! No real update on the R20....Just waiting....Once our housing situation is resloved, I'm just gonna get my brother-in-law's truck, and go get it I think....He's gone quiet again, and to be honest I'm starting to lose interest! It's the later 323F that interests me more than the old RWD jobbies....I like the model from about '96/'97/'98 (is it called the BA?), or preferably the earlier one with the pop-up headlamps (BG?)....Since getting the MX-5, I'm wondering how I ever did without pop-ups....They're fantastic....Who'd have thought merely turning on your car headlamps could be so exciting!

Yes mum's Supra causes much amusement when she has to flash somebody--------> lights go up----------> lights go down.

I love those 323s. I've test driven a couple, a 1.8 'pop-up headlamp' effort and a later 1.8. The old one had its pop-up headlamps stuck up because of knackered motors unfortunately. I found the later one very cramped inside and it doesn't seem to have the earlier one's silly instrument panel information (like a low washer fluid level warning). The later model drives much better though, almost flawlessly in fact. Would love to try a V6 one.
Spottedlaurel Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Good to see you on here again Baz!The pop-up 323F is a great car IMO. Wish we'd been able to stash our old GT away, it was a cracking drive.
Baz Posted June 8, 2008 Author Posted June 8, 2008 The pop-up 323F is a great car IMO.....And very affordable too....Maybe I should just "accidentally" win one on Ebay, using the wife's account? She'd be forced to let me have it, in order to avoid the negging! Am I right in thinking that some of them use the same engine as the MX-5?....It's a cracking engine!
wuvvum Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Ah, but does the wife know about the new feedback system? If she thinks she can still be negged you can still use it as an excuse...
