A mysterious case of arson, a subsequent insurance claim followed by bulldozing the remains as they are now unsavable and redeveloping the site into housing is the normal route most buyers of this type of property go down, the fact they wasted time and money redoing the East wing shows they are clearly novices at this business.

The increased cost of borrowing, materials and covid before really didn't help with a project like this I'd assume. Owners probably ran out of money and numbers didn't add up anymore. Im not sure what they bought it for but demolishing the place and starting from scratch probably would have been easier and not much more.
