The trouble with the plate is you'd probably need to MOT the car first and selling them (plates) is a bit of a mare because the market place is flooded with private numbers and agencies take literally years to shift them for you most of the time.

Personally speaking I'd whang the car on eBay and make a deal of the private plate being valued at what it is as it will probably encourage stronger bidding.

Sorry Bones, missed that.

I stupidly let a private plate go with my Espace V6: JIL 3555. Quick reg check proves it's still on it! Some housewife would have paid quite a bit for that to be on her Range Rover I imagine. Was just such a nightmare to deal with, as you've mentioned. The car was out of tax, so it would have meant re-taxing, which requires insurance, which I had cancelled. Then there's the nightmare of actually selling it and the paperwork involved. You know what.... I was right to let it go with the car! Nothing is worth that.

Ebay is a good idea.

Shove the plate on retention, and flog it yourself when you need that bit of extra cash. Flogging the plate with the car will be daft tbh, because nobody will want the car, and because of the state of it, combined you will be lucky to get £300
