Splitter for diagonal split brakes? Some cars with dual circuit brakes split them diagonally, others had one circuit with the fronts and one rear, the other circuit was the fronts and other rear.

Pressure limiting valve for rear brakes?

Pressure limiting valve for rear brakes?

Just what I was about to say. If the motor it's attached to has discs on the front, and drums on the back, that's likely as not what it'll be. I recall helping a mate to change one on (iirc) a Marina, when I was but young. His caused an MOT fail for lack of rear brake effort, but if you held the pedal down, the rear brakes would slightly bind on for a bit. It was pretty gummed up, maybe that's why this one's been left disconnected?

Pressure limiter it is, well done chaps, it's not original fitment and now I think of it the early 403 had finned alluminium drums all round to increase efficiency, this buggered up the balance so went back to steel drums on the rear, this valve must have been added as an alternative to changing drums.

Have a sexy pic.
