After I sold it some wag put the bonnet scoop on it

PS no Farnham estates were harmed in the building of it BTW

I've always wondered what jacked up customs were like to drive? I'm guessing ok in a straight line, but not too clever on the bends?

That wasn't too bad. It had a jag IRS on the rear and a transit I beam axle on the front

If they're anything like jacked-up (or "lifted") Suzuki jeeps, bloody awful. I had a little go in a lifted Jimny a few months ago (thousands of the little buggers here) and it felt like I was drunk. Got to admit, as someone who first read a copy of Custom Car in 1971: they dunnarf look dramatic though!

I'm not a huge fan of the jacked-up custom look, but the Zephyr does look very tidy as a panel van. Did you do it yourself? I guess a lot of work went in to that if you started with a saloon. Any idea if these are still around?

It started out as a Daimler powered saloon and featured on a top trumps card way back when, piccy taken in Windsor Great Park. A mate actually did the work which was basically part of the roof of another saloon grafted on the back. It had a SDI Rover lump witha 5 speed manual box when I had it. Still had the vacuum wipers though!
