Tin worm flourishes in patches...a bit odd will get some photos hope

never ever had to weld a legacy nor forester, a couple of imprezas have needed patches on sills, but only early ones. Had literally hundreds of them. Have seen odd blisters appearing on inner wings, in places where holes seemed to be for things that were never bolted on.

that seems to be the issue Kinker - the rusty bits are eiter stone chip related or where a hole has been drilled into the body work and obviously not rust proofed...the various clamps and hangers are a disaster with zero rustproofing and there are areas where bolts have been used to attach stuff to the underside of the car and not only is there obviously no rustproofing but the metals have reacted causing corrosion where it shouldn't be..

slam panel of the off side rear passenger door at the sill - no hole but there will be soon - caused by the hanger that holds the handbrake cable in place. The rust has spread from the hole drilled to attach this.

There are one or two other bits where the trim has been attached.

Looks like a lifetime of Lothian winters has got into these and caused havoc. The overall rustproofing is not bad BUT whoever finished the car for sale needs to be shot as they clearly never bothered rustproofing the holes.

I will go over all with sandpaper ans Krust and get some zinc primer and paint on the bits and underseal the bottom.

Don't want to spend too much cash on this car as it might not be a long term keeper but so far I can't fault it...it will need new r4ar shocks soon - both are leaking - looks like the previous owner might have used it to lug a tonne of cement!

I think I'll live with the oil leak at the moment - getting the shocks done is more of a priority
