Hi, I'm looking for a car for "Maniacs to Milan" which is a charity rally in aid of help for saving the kids or something like that, I don't know. Anyway, the rules say that the car can cost no more than £100 so that would be the limit of our team (The Crazy Booze Nutter Squad). We are planning to paint the car to look like the gameshow "15-to-1" and me and my co-pilot Colin are planning to both dress up like William G Stewart, LOL! Anyway, as we are driving to Milan we need to be absolutely sure the car will not break down. Therefore we will need a new MOT on the car and a tax disc (preferably 12 months). Has the car also been serviced? We would need that doing. Anyway, thanks for reading and hope to hear from you soon. Catch ya later!

Might (no promises) know someone interested. As I don't expect it to be taxed do you have any idea when it ran out please?

You too eh? I'm doing 'Dumkopfs-2-Dusseldorf' in July in a knackered Rover 800 which we have had coated in tarmac with double yellow lines and a 'Residents Parking Only' sign nailed to the rear bumper. The object is to get some cheap car all the way to somewhere in Europe without it breaking down, much.

Oh the zany English and their hilarious escapades.

Oh, and GLWTA. That's Bridge money, looks clean as well.

Some zany banger rallyists were featured in the local paper this week, they're doing a run to Barcelona, That's fair enough, Barcelona is quite a long way from the north of Scotland. And they're doing it in a £200 banger. Heroic!

What's their "£200 banger?" A early-mid 1990s Nissan Patrol... Surely a suitable vehicle for driving to the moon, and worth far more than £200.

Vic told me today that he spotted an article about some brave boys doing a charity rally in a supposedly £500 Audi A4, which given the age and condition would fetch closer to about £2000.

Surprised you can get anything with a ticket for £200 these days, even a mk.3 Astra

They're not what they used to be, those rallies. There are people on every event i've ever done with dubiously nice cars given the price limits. That said it does depend on who you know; my 86 SAAB 900 Turbo that i've just bought was 249 quid with an MOT (couple of months) as the bloke who had it was getting spouse-induced earache for having it sat on the driveway.

On the flipside you do get people who have, last minute, dragged truly nasty heaps of shite out of hedges with just enough test to see the event through - i've seen a Fiat 126 with no exhaust, Metros with no rear arches, a VW golf with half the engine bay held in with cable ties...

The lad who bought my Omega wanted to pay in the house so his mates couldn't see as it was more than the budget for the banger rally they were doing.
