Barrel-Scraping... anyone selling a Leon Dizzler?

Finally chosen a new car.... I'm set my sights on a Leon TDI. Cheap enough for me, importantly cheap to insure (gr7 vs gr11 for the same spec Golf), economical and pokey enough.

Trouble is there seems to be an exclusion zone of 50 miles around my house both on Autotrader and eBay. I know I'll have to travel to buy one, but travelling that distance twice (once to view in my car, then getting a lift back to pick it up) is a bit crap.

So. Anyone know of anyone selling a Leon TDI? Must be 110 model, and I'm not after the cheapest one in the world as I'd like a service history, long MoT and cambelts changes.

why not an Octavia instead? I'd have thought there are more of them about...isn't it the same car anyway?

Don't want a saloon, I'm fed up of taking my bike apart to get it in the boot of the BMW. And Estates are well expensive.

Plus, I just don't like Octavias, at least not in my price range - Mk1 grilles look horrible, the spec is nowhere near as good as Leons (chintzy seats and wheeltrims), and they've all been to Uranus and back. One of the reasons for getting shot of the BMW is it's not "me", I don't do big saloons. Octavia is same floorpan but bigger than a Leon.

I'd have a Golf, but it'd have to be GTTDI spec and they're both expensive to buy, and expensive to insure.

I know someone selling a Bora Tdi 130 who would take £2300, it's due a cambelt though.

*Arse, no saloons....

The Octavia's a huuuge hatchback.

Its grille and headlights always remind me of the Rover 800 mk2, I'm never sure what's coming if I see it head on from a distance. It's usually an Octavia obviously.

They are quite expensive used like you say, SEAT seems to be the value VAG choice.

Hmmm, might have found one. Metallic blue, 146k on a 2001 plate, Cupra alloys, just had cambelt and service and all that oily shit.

And it's just up the road, seeing it tomorrow.

Fingers crossed.
