cheap spray gun or expensive?

Yesterday I was offered (and bought) a 2HP compressor. It looks like new.

It's a SIP Airmate T2/50-0

it says oil free

it says 8CFM

it says 4.4CFM free air flow

Originally I wanted to get a 3HP but £50 vs £300....

So this is going to limit me to small sprayguns. Just means the job will take a bit longer I hope.

Anyway.

I could by a touch up gun from Machine Mart for £20

eg

or I could spend £60 and get a "DEVILBISS SLG-610 G.P GRAVITY FED SPRAYGUN" which apparently will work from my little compressor okay

So what practical difference does it make?

Which is easier for a novice to use?

I need to spray metallic cars (so base coat plus lacquer) with it. I'm happy to use rattle cans for etch primer and primer and spend more time sanding if necessary.

I'm not spraying a whole car, just a wing or door here or there.

I've had a Sagolo spray gun (copy of a SATA) for 20 years and it's been ace but it was sadly getting very worn out. As I dont do much spraying now I bought a Machine mart one - bad mistake, and was not impressed.

So spoke to my mate and he recommended the Devilbis HVLP (HIgh volume low pressure) gravity feed gun. A guy was selling some on ebay a while ago 1/2 retail price which I think I paid £90 + postage and it was the best money ever spent. Sprays lovely, little pressure and finish was great. very little overspray.

I now use the machine mart for primer which is all it is really good for ..
