LPG Insurance Issues

Met a mate of mine who I've not seen in a while in the pub last night, and he mentioned that his old man was flogging his BMW 540i Sport Touring. He's had it from new, was his company car, and he bought it 4 years ago when the lease ran out. Done 100k, Full history, and he wants £4500. It was fitted with an lpg system (BMW approved) and it's right lovely. It's the same as this one:

but his had the wheels nicked off it, and now has some deep dish five spoke things, which are lush.

As I IZ BOARD i had a look at insurance quote site and got quoted, without declaring lpg, £796.21 f/c. With lpg declared it goes up to £1123.01, a difference of £326.80!!!

While I'm aware of the potential increase in fire risk with lpg, but really, that's a bit steep surely? What you save at the pumps, you lose on the insurance it seems.

I won't be buying it anyway....1) I haven't got £4500, and 2) It's a BMW 5 series, and I don't need any help looking like a twat.
