Any advice on ignition coils?

I only know as much about these as knowing some are round oil filled types, and others are square non-fluid type, and there are two coils in them, and if they're Bosch, they break after ten years for no reason whatsoever.

I have a square type on an old Astra I have, and I'm getting no spark. The coil has a coil amp. I have a few coils from other cars which have similar setup, complete with amps, and I'm wondering if it would be okay to swap them over without possibility of frying any components and the like.

Hmmm. I'd say it all very much depends on what floor mats your car is fitted with.
