I have learned something interesting recently though. you can reapply for SORN at any time and they send you out a SORN letter from that date, infact you could re-apply for SORN on the same car every day forever and they would just bombard you with confirmation letters, everyday. I'd imagine if a few thousand motorists started doing this the DVLA would soon collapse and we would finally be free of them.

Very interesting indeed! In my current job I regularly end up with "free" stamps, so I could just use them all for SORNs.

No need, just do it online as part of your "just arrived at work" ritual. You'll soon just do it automatically.

 

Seeing as the DVLA wont allow you to scrap your own car anymore, meaning you have to keep it "alive" on paper and perpetually SORN'd, I think this course of action is well deserved.

Nice idea, but isn't it all done by machines these days? I can't see Ms Davis sitting there all day licking envelopes, although it's certainly more of a picture than Mr B's charcoal drawings!

There've been stories in the press of untaxed or SORN'd vehicles being clamped but I think in each case they were on privately owned but publicly accessed land like shared driveways or car parks.
