I would like to know how long the rear shock absorbers are on a Sierra estate when the car is sitting with no weight in the back

I have one, but it's away in a secure yard, no access without a deal of hassle (Blocked in by 4 or 5 others I reckon by now) Gonna be a hard one to measure, as it's a coil over, with a recessed top pin mounting. Can you not get a shock off a shelf and measure full out to full in, and split the length? That would give you half way.

I have a mk3 granada estate rear subframe (with the shocks still on it - should be fairly close if no-one else has one. I can take a tape measure to them tomorrow.
