Rover SD1 autobox question

I'm hoping somebody on here will be able to save me some scrabbling around in the pissing rain tomorrow trying to find the answer to this for myself. I went out for a spin in the SD1 earlier this evening, during the course of which I nailed it for the first time since buying the thing. Unfortunately it now seems to be stuck in kick-down - at first I thought I'd done something to the gearbox and got it stuck in gear, but taking it gently up to the redline did prompt an upshift, although it immediately changed down again when I slowed down. So that sounds like a stuck kickdown mechanism to me. I had a quick look in the footwell upon arriving home and couldn't see any obvious sign of a kickdown switch, so my question is - how does the kickdown mechanism operate on these, and what is likely to be sticking?

Cable from the throttle linkage. Probably stuck with lack of use, your wellying it has probably taken it to somewhere it's not been for a while.

Also, check the 'box fluid level...
