ACO grille badge wanted! *Looks at VWPowered*

Hey pips,

 

Having just got back from the Le Mans Classic and its awesome autojumble, would anyone know of one of these for sale? It's the club badge for the Automobile Club L'Ouest, the club that organises and runs Le Mans.

 

 

They're between 25 and 30 cm in diameter and would look great on the grille of my Amazon. I was all set to buy one from a stall but got pipped at the last minute by a bloody German who got in ahead of me after I'd gone to the cashpoint. I then discovered the vendor accepted cards.

 

 

It was overpriced anyway. It would have made a top retro memento of the event. I settled for some very cheap 1:43s of the Dome Zero, Suzuki Cappucino and the Mazda 787B instead, plus a couple of Michelin T Shirts and the inevitable sandwiches jambon aux choix. That I had about 20 Euros left gives you some idea of how expensive they were. I've tried the normal online haunts like eBay.fr but have drawn a blank. VWP, would you be able to dredge me one up from somewhere? Sort you out for postage etc.

Is it not a special badge?.

 

On the left is a photo of the actual Automobile Club de l'Ouest plaque that graced the Jowett pit in the 1950 Le Mans race. It is quite large, from memory about 30cm in diameter.

As the Jowett team prepared to depart the pit after the race and post-race formalities, a mechanic jumped on the roof of a Javelin, screwdriver in hand.

 

It was believed to still exist, somewhere. Jupiter fan Annie Ozolins has an idea where it might be. More anon...

Not really, there's a few about and the one Kraut boy bought was the same as that one. It doesn't have to be that one exactly.

Not bad lobsta, not bad, although that looks pre war to me - a Rosengart in the Le Mans museum had a badge on like that. But that is bang on the sort of thing I am after, so will keep it in reserve.
