I appear to have had my ST stolen 

 

 

 

By the wife . She sold her panda last weekend and had nicked my car . Luckily I can walk to my new casual job ( driver for GSF ) . 
She’s doing 30mpg now even with her driving so that’s not bad but we are still looking for a small engined fiat to add to the fleet.

A year ago an old C3 XTR fell into my lap from a customer that didn’t want to do the mot repairs so I bought it for the mot test cost . All in it took less than £100 to get it on the road. Thought I’d use it for a month or two and weigh it in . 
Well bugger me dead - £35 tax and 60-67mpg . Over the last year it needed two rear tyres and two 501 bulbs . But it’s pretty tired and grotty so we decided to give it a send off on its last day of mot .

4 of us went out night time greenlaning. 
Quick bit of air hacksaw action on the front lower bumper and we were off ! 
First couple of stoney lanes were no issues and off to one I knew had a muddy sump in it . I was told that momentum was key and indeed it was - right up until it wasn’t .

It got through the puddle / swamp but came out the other side with no power and plumes of black smoke . We eventually got it driving by taking the vac pipe off the turbo . No low down power but we were mobile .

We carried on a did every lane we asked of it . Some lanes I’ve been told have caught out discos 😂 . Some of the rocky steep climbs it did amazed us all . Few pub stops for food n refreshments ( no beer for me ) 

The grand finale was an uphill grassy rutted , muddy and stony lane at the back of my yard . Well fuck me dead it barely broke traction . On almost illegal road tyres at normal pressures .

I was almost tempted to keep the old girl but my local scrap guy offered me £190 so she’s getting the new tyres taken off and away to make bean tins . 
 

What it has done is change my opinion of C3’s . What a great tough little car . 
It did a couple of long distance runs over the year  too when other cars had let me down . 
 

RIP my lil off roader 

PS the original plan was for Dave to take his 90 incase we needed towing . But only 4 of us were present so decided to go solo so ditched the strap .

I remember my mate Andy getting his mk1 clio quite far down the Ridgeway (before it was closed off for motor vehicles...). He hadn't modified anything 😂
