Yeah, I can think of worse ways to spend £50. Proper shite money! But, bizarrely, not the cheapest Volvo I will ever have had, a mate gave me his old 245 once as he couldn't be arsed welding a couple of arches to it.Fixed the grot, ran it for a few Months and, all of a sudden, people I didn't know that I knew were my best mates and wanted me to shift wardrobes for them.

Well done on the insurance solution. These Volvos really have turned a corner in mine and many others eyes...I was going to mention that some people would get a years policy and then take advantage of the 2 weeks 'cooling off' period that you get.

Excellent! Another 300 owner I'm glad it hasn't been bought by the OMG GR8 4DRFTN kids. Mind you, for a quick sale, rip the back seats out, drill a coupla holes in the airbox, rattlecan the bonnet satin black, add AT LEAST 300quid for scene tax, write a poorly-worded ad for eBay and bobs yer uncle! I remember there was a newbie on the Volvo mania forum who bought a 360 GLT saloon, it was an absolute minter.... then drifted and killed it. I don't mind people drifting these things, as long as they use a snotter not a mint one! Sorry, rant over. Touchy subject

I'd hardly choose to go drifting in a 340 when I own the Dolomite.

 

This 340 will be safe with me in the sense that I won't be drilling any holes or ripping out any seats. No promises about the quality of the paintwork repairs though.

It'll never be a showroom job under my care, but then I prefer any car I own to bear its age with pride, and at least I can keep the thing out of the crusher and that hatch will be handy for something I'm sure.

 

'Tis a pity they didn't offer the Diesel 340 with an auto gearbox, that would be something I'd enjoy.
