A total of 7 hours in a slammed splitty, but I endured the pain to bring you some piccytures.

I've left out the majority of VW stuff - I figure you lot know what a Beetle looks like - but you can see the rest here (180 photos)

Anyhow, here's the more interesting stuff. Mostly from the carpark :)

Rear-engined aircooled Mk3 Golf on narrowed beam. Pretty nuts, and well finished.

Ratty brown squareback. This is teh sex, for me.

Smacked in the face with the 1970s. Lovely shade :)

A bit nuts, but works quite well.

Imagine the strange looks I got taking THIS photo!

Can I get an ID on this? First person to say "Honda" gets a hard stare.

Just sat in the carpark, doing nothing, chilling. I'd love to cruise in this.

I don't think I've ever seen one of these in the flesh before. Excellent condition, but stonechipped front and a generally used condition suggest it's one hell of a daily driver.

Sadly hit with the stick, but hopefully reversible. Still looked pretty cool.

A tenth of the price of a splitty, and thrice the interior space. A no-brainer in my eyes!

This was uber-gifferspec. Original dealer plates and sticker, furry seat covers, driving gloves and cushions inside, warnings about etched windows. Either someone's got "the look" spot on, or there was an 80-year-old at the show somewhere wondering why I'm taking photos of his car.

Really not that shite, but a crewcab splitscreen VW with a 3.6 litre 911 engine and 6-speed box is always worth a photo. 300bhp/360NM apparently. Photo taken between the guy starting it, and me being deafened by 6-pot porsche lump shouting at me.

That Honda is an SMX.The air cooled Golf is a perfect example of "just because you can, doesn't mean you should". It's quite clever but it'd have been better done to a new Beetle (although I imagine someone must have done that by now).

I used to go and just walk around the car park myself as there was a good few hours of stuff to see in there.

Isn't that scened Audi the one that is on gaybay?

Did you see my mates Manx SR?:

That red audi is indeed the amusingly-priced one off ebay.I love that aircooled Mk3 golf. Brilliant!!! I think the Mk3 easily is the duffest golf... I appreciate them choosing that model to do all that work on.

Being a bit of a VAG-head I quite liked the indoorsy bit, but for any marque-agnostic car buff nearby the carpark was indeed well worth the entry price of zero pounds. I missed out on a Mk1 Transit Camper, I did get the fire truck though:

I certainly thought the Mk3 was an ironic touch - the scene guys have the Mk1, the racers have the Mk2, and the drug dealers a black Mk4 with 18s and limo tints. Who loves the Mk3? Nobody - perfect!

They (TypeThreeDetectives) have a matching VW Brasilia, on the same stand:

I just found out my mates Manx SR now looks like this:
