Oh Arse. Longcross are booked up till February, with Disney and Warners fighting over the last available corner  . Can anybody suggest any likely locations? Within the M25 is favourite, Greater London or Herts too.We are thinking quiet streets Industrial estatesHousing estatesAll pre 1980sPlan B of desperation is to do it in true Sweeney style, wait till nobody is looking/coming and go for it!

It is most probably too far up north, but there is a great piece of land in Wallsey that would be fantastic for some kind of car chase scenes.Infact if it helps, i could borrow a camera and film one or two scenes in this locationThen if you want it, edit it into your film

How good a camera? We are aiming at HD DV at least....

Posted

Sounds like you are going fully out on this one !To my knowledge i don't think the guy has a HD cameraSo i guess we will skip that idea

I know you are sorted for cars, but would my somewhat 'worn in' looking 1971 Maxi be any good to you?If not, I wouldnt mind coming along anyway.....

Posted

Well obviously we don't want everything 'brand new', it's not Life on Mars or Ashes to Ashes! So yes, in 1985 a 71 Maxi would be 14 years old so would be a bit worn! So yes would be interested, even if only for set dressing. Sign up here www.demon-barber.co.uk

Bump! To get you in the mood, have a look at this....

Hmmm. Depending when and where it is I might be able to get along, I could either bring a 1957 Austin A35 or 1986 Citroen 2CV, only thing is, I think one is a bit old and one a bit new!

Posted

Well the 2CV must have been around since the early 80s or before, so with a bit of number plate swapping for the camera it would do! Sign it up at www.demon-barber.co.uk ......

Anybody got any ideas for locations? Cos I can't find an 'in' to the places I really really want. Loncross is booked till February, and I can't find any details (as in numbers to call) for Beckton Gas Works or Millenium Mill.

San Francisco? 8)

If it has to be London, how about sending a yellow Capri over Tower Bridge?

I've just registered on the demon barber site anyway

EDIT: A few handy links here for old locations, might turn up something interesting?

I've got a BMW E30 320i touring, its a 1989, any good? I think the earliest the model came out was in 1987/88..Its in good nick  could slap some different plates on it

Just spent hours on location works! Trouble is, they want money to book stuff! Minimad, I did have a look at 28 days later, but getting in with vehicles might be harder than getting in to take photos, good for ideas though. Rhubarb your touring would be interesting, haven't get any beemers at all yet.

 Fred the idea (well in my head anyway) ... was that you found a nice location on 28days later, and tried to contact the land owner or building owner and hopefully got permission to film :D Or am i just in dream land ?Good luck !!

It's a great site innit? Money to book stuff isn't unreasonable, the boys at demon barber will be charging money to watch the film I take it? Just got to make sure you get your money's worth out of the location

Don't get me wrong, I did pretty much think that's what you meant (I am going to have a go at Millenium mill for a start). As it's down to pitching up at the locations to find out, that could be a bit time consuming.

The thing is, the pilot will be done by spending our own money, and we won't get that money back till the programme sells.

Are you suggesting a Sweeney/Minder crossover then?

It happens sometimes in films I think, the makers drop "easter eggs" for the geeks to search for. It's probably what the producers talk about in the pub, while lighting 12 inch Havana cigars from hundred dollar bills

 Or at unit base over lunch.....

You are correct !My spelling of it how ever is incorrect "Intertextual Refrences"I did A level Film Studies

Possibly.... 8) Anyway, I think it's a bit like viral marketing. There are all sorts of geeks around who talk about these old TV series and they jump on something which links to it. Imagine if Peugeot fitted Talbot Tagora wheels on its new luxury model, we'd be all over it like a cheap suitA good example we see is crazy wacky ebay adverts, they get copied to forums all over the place and the interest shoots up.
